ANAVETS give Love in Action a helping hand

February 11, ANAVETS Mexico Unit 19 (Army Navy Airforce Veterans Association) held a silent auction fundraiser at Mama’s Musical Bar in San Antonio Tlayacapan to aid the 22 girls aged 6 to 18 who live at the Love in Action (Amor en Acción) home for children in Chapala.

The Winterfest event raised 12,000 pesos and provided 22 book bags for the girls, filled with a full range of personal care items, along with a soccer goal net, two soccer balls and two frisbees for their outdoor playing field.

ANAVETS President Rick Palmer and Entertainment Chair Carol McChesney presented the donation to Amor en Acción Director General Anaber Hurtado Martinez, Administrator Alma Angelina Zamora Chavez and Operations Director Vicky Contreras Zamora on Monday, March 6.

Unit 19 is the first to be granted an international charter in Mexico and has been part of Lake Chapala community since 2019, and Puerta Vallarta this year. Their goal is to support the community, veterans and their membership.

Fellowship and camaraderie happens every Thursday afternoon in collaboration with the Fun Darts Club and Lakeside Euchre Club at Mama’s Musical Bar. Information: www.anavetsmexico.org and Facebook.
