13 years of fresh, healthy food

The Lake Chapala Farmers Market (LCFM) is celebrating its 13th anniversary, Tuesday, March 21 at La Huerta de Serna Salon, Carretera Jocotepec-Chapala 524 in West Ajijic.

The market is open every Tuesday from 9:30 to 12:30 a.m. The LCFM began with four producers in the yard of Carol Kindschi in West Ajijic on a Tuesday morning in March in 2010. There were 37 customers who had a desire to buy organic produce in the area.

Now 13 years later, dozens of vendors sell all types of vegetables, organic products, breads, juices, organic nuts, seed, grains, free range beef, chicken, lamb, locally produced sausages, smoked fish, goat cheese and yogurt, plus dozens of other items. All the farms and kitchens renting space at the market are carefully reviewed and vetted by the vendor-led committee with a rigorous entry process to make sure all their products are high quality, fresh, healthy and delicious.
