Water bottles for clothes, food program begins in Mezcala

Living Water ministry at Abundant Life Church in San Antonio Tlayacapan is partnering with the Mezcala kids breakfast program in the pilot Mezcala plastic for clothes or food project.

According to Don Spangler, the director of living Water ministry, and Pastor Lionel Sanchez, the director of the Mezcala kids breakfast club, the joint program is an effort to encourage anti-littering, recycling and to drink safe clean water.

It also helps instill personal and community pride in the kids who are promoting and participating in the program by exchanging donated children’s and adult clothing for the return or exchange of empty family-sized water containers garrafones.

The water container bottles are then refilled twice weekly with clean filtered water from the free water dispenser at the Abundant Life Church and then given out again to low- income Mezcala area families and kids at the Mezcala kids breakfast club, where volunteers serves 50 free nutritional breakfasts to needy children Monday to Friday at the Mezcala Christian Church, Hidalgo 251-B in Mezcala.
