Officers assigned to the Escuadrón Canino with the Jalisco Civil Protection and Firefighters Unit (UEPCBJ) arrived in Ajijic on Monday, May 8 to retrieve a Belgian Malinois Shepherd puppy donated to the team by lakeside’s Du Lac Axixic Kennel.
The handsome young pup will be raised and trained for service in search and rescue missions.
Last November the UEPCBJ retired Belgian Shepherds Bongo, age 12, and Cónsul, age 10, to be placed in the homes of adoptive families after long K9 careers that included locating persons trapped in earthquake and mining disasters.
