Meet Francisco Moisés Ortiz de la Rosa, the new head of Movilidad de Chapala, the municipality’s traffic department. He was appointed earlier this month by Mayor Alejandro Aguirre, replacing Pedro Antonio Valdivia Chinas, who resigned from the position at the end of May.
At 37, Ortiz de la Rosa brings extensive experience to the role. He began his career with the Jalisco Ministry of Transportation in 2008 in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga and has previously served in the agency’s Lake Chapala regional branch.
In a recent sit-down with local reporters, Ortiz outlined a series of new strategies aimed at alleviating common transit issues. He discussed the need to update municipal traffic regulations, improve signage along the Chapala-Jocotepec highway and inner streets, and prioritize safety for motorcyclists and users of the Ciclovía cycling track.
