The Salvemos el Lago Más Grande de México festival, held Sunday, August 31, at the Ajijic waterfront drew a large crowd united by a common cause: demanding the protection and full restoration of Lake Chapala.
Originally set for the Malecón park area, the venue was relocated a few days before the event to the shoreline at Parque Ecológico La Crucita, east of the pier.
Organized by local pro-lake activists, the offbeat public protest took the form of a cultural festival, with activities scheduled from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
