The administrative board of Chapala’s Municipal Water and Sewer System (SIMAPA) has ratified a proposal to increase water service fees in 2026.
During a board meeting held on October 7, a five percent increase in the residential service rate was approved unanimously. This is lower than the 7.49 percent increase suggested by the State Water Commission, which was based on a study of 2025 income and expenditures, as well as this year’s inflation rate.
