Feria de Maestros puts shoppers’ paradise at your doorstep

When the Feria Maestros del Arte gets underway next weekend, visitors will find a cornucopia of high-quality Mexican crafts and folk art brought by indigenous artisans from all corners of the nation. It’s a virtual shoppers’ paradise set up right at the doorstep of lakeside residents.

The Feria is scheduled to run Friday, November 7 through Sunday, November 9 on the ample grounds of Hotel Real de Chapala, Paseo del Prado 20 in lower La Floresta. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is a donation of 100 pesos per person, applied toward this year’s operating expenses and a funding reserve for 2026.

This year’s event will showcase the wares of 86 exhibitors, featuring a great variety of ceramic arts, clothing, and textile goods, along with jewelry and fashion accessories, baskets, paper and wood crafts, metalwork, visual artwork, and much more — classified into 20 different categories representing diverse materials and ethnic groups.

Artesanías displayed in the exhibition run the gamut from traditional handmade art forms to emerging styles created through innovative production methods. The selection criteria for exhibitors are based on the merit and quality of their work, as well as their ability to continue producing it. While some artists have participated in previous years, as many as half of them will be first-time exhibitors in 2025.

The Feria is complemented by a daily program of live entertainment and a folk art lecture series appealing to anyone interested in exploring the modern-day conservation of craft traditions.
