The Chapala City Council has approved a resolution to renew the government contract with Promotora Ambiental de la Laguna (PASA), the private company that operates a landfill facility in Ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos that receives the municipality’s solid wastes.
The initiative passed by majority vote on January 29 extends the contract for a period of 15 years, with the payment base rate set at 321.18 pesos per ton, plus IVA value-added tax. The contract is subject to annual price adjustments based on variables such as the National Consumer Price Index. The estimated volume of trash transported for disposal averages 2,080 tons per month.
