Ajijic painter invents walmART studio in PV

Not everything that happened during the February 22 security crisis was about doom and destruction. Multiple accounts of Mexicanos and foreigners coming to the aid of one another have emerged over the past week. And then there is the tale of Ajijic artist Efrén González, who cleverly demonstrated how improvisation works in the face of adversity.

pg13aEfrén was among the customers at a Walmart store in Puerto Vallarta who got caught in the Sunday lockdown. Rather than aimlessly awaiting liberation from the supermarket, he settled down and calmly got to work. He grabbed some furnishings on sale in one aisle, pulled painting supplies and tools of the trade out of his backpack, and set up a mini studio to while away five hours of forced captivity.

He posted the experience on Facebook, showing off a miniature street scene he created on the spot. A fan quickly dubbed the initiative as the first-ever walmART studio site.
