To strengthen the conservation of Lake Chapala in the face of growing environmental, urban and social threats, municipal authorities and academic institutions last week reaffirmed a commitment to support the lake’s recent nomination as a 2027 World Monuments Watch threatened cultural site.

To boost the cause, authorities from 11 municipalities in Jalisco and Michoacán will participate in cultural, artistic and community activities for the first Día del Lago de Chapala celebration on the third Sunday of October.
