One-third of Mexicans addicted to work

Contrary to the stereotype of  most Mexicans being lazy, tequila-swigging good-for-nothings, a new study claims 35 percent of this nation’s citizens are in fact work addicts.

The investigation by Crecimiento Sustenable (CS) found that 16.5 million people in Mexico dedicate over 12 hours a day (over 60 a week) to their professional life. Permanently on their computer or cell phone, these work addicts suffer symptoms such as anxiety, stress, irritability, loneliness and depression. Most affected are those born from 1971 to 1985, known as Generation X.
