Mexico’s daily minimum wage will increase by 2.43 pesos as of January 1, 2013.
This rise of 3.9 percent means the daily minimum wage in Mexico’s Zone A – which now includes the Guadalajara metropolitan zone, along with Mexico City, Monterrey and much of northern Mexico – will be 64.76 pesos.
The country is now split into just two different zones, having previously been divided into three. The rest of Jalisco is listed in Zone B, which will now have a minimum wage of 61.38 pesos per day.The changes were set by the National Minimum Wage commission (Conasami) on November 27. This year’s increase is down on last year’s rise of 4.2 percent, but Conasami said the figure was based on the estimated inflation rate of 3.5 percent for 2012.
