Does your VW need a recall?

Between 2009 and 2015, Volkswagon sold around 32,000 diesel-powered  vehicles in Mexico with diesel emissions technology that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) say was rigged.

After repeated denials, the German automaker recently admitted that it manufactured around 11 million vehicles worldwide with a sophisticated algorithm designed to undermine official emissions testing.

The vehicles sold in this country, however, appear not to have contravened Mexican emissions standards and may not require a technical fix as long as they are only driven south of the border.

In a statement, Volkswagen de Mexico said it was methodically evaluating a register of the vehicles possibly affected to determine if they need to be recalled. The company stressed that the technical anomaly does not represent any danger to the public.

VW has said it would set up websites for every country affected to keep customers informed about what they need to do.
