Firefighters from Ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos, Chapala, Jocotepec and Jalisco’s Unidad Estatal Protección Civil y Bomberos joined forces to combat a brush fire that broke out early Wednesday, April 3 on the hillside above the Las Brisas residential complex on Chapala’s northern outskirts.
The flames were finally quelled around 7:30 p.m., leaving approximately 50 hectares of scorched land located on the perimeters of the Protected Natural Area of the Cerro Viejo-Chupinaya-Los Sabinos mountain range.
