Even though the coronavirus pandemic is a long way from being controlled in Mexico, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador is urging foreigners to visit this country.
He made the remarks September 23, while kicking off the Tianguis Turístico México 2020, the most important annual showcase for the Mexican tourism industry that usually attracts large numbers of buyers from around the world. This year, however, the trade show was held digitally, over two days.
A virtual exhibition hall “housed” 220 exhibitors from all over Mexico, while 1,700 buyers from 45 countries registered for the event, organizers said. In addition to a virtual auditorium for speaker sessions and webinars, participants were able to hook up for business exchanges through an online “networking lounge.”
