Unflagging relatives search for loved ones

A “caravan” formed of relatives of disappeared persons passed though Guadalajara this week, in part to search for missing loved ones, but also with the aim of drawing attention to this serious problem that has plagued Mexico for around two decades.

pg1bMembers of the Caravana Internacional de Búsqueda de Desaparecidos (International Caravan in Search of the Disappeared) staged a march and a demonstration in the Chapultepec area of the city on Monday, before heading the following day to the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Anticipating the arrival of the caravan, staff from the Jalisco Search Commission  (Comisión de Búsqueda de Personas de Jalisco) installed tables outside the institute to attend to the visitors and help them search through databases and schedule appointments to view unidentified corpses.
