A new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says wearing two masks offers significantly better protection against Covid-19.
One recommendation for additional security is to wear a surgical mask underneath a cloth mask. The report cited an experiment in which two face coverings on a dummy near an unmasked individual reduced their exposure to infectious aerosols by 95 percent. “The data released by CDC today underscore the importance of wearing a mask correctly and making sure that it fits closely over your nose and mouth,” said John T. Brooks, the author of the report.
