The short-term future of tourism in this country isn’t all bleak, even though Mexico this week received a Level 4 Travel Health Notice from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), with the agency advising Americans to avoid all travel here due to the ongoing pandemic.
On the plus side, data from multiple tourism institutions, including booking platforms such as Expedia, Kayak and Tripadvisor, indicate that a significant number of travelers – mostly from the United States – plan to visit destinations in Mexico in the second half of 2021, according to Travelpulse.com.
Popular locations such as the Riviera Maya, Baja California, Puerto Vallarta and Puerto Escondido are among the most searched-for destinations worldwide by Americans, according to data from various travel platforms.
Unlike many other countries, Mexico hasn’t implemented rules obliging everyone entering the country to show a negative Covid-19 test.
