Teachers next for shots as schools prepare to reopen

Teachers and educational personnel in Jalisco will get their Covid vaccination shots between April 28 and May 4, the state government has announced.

The rollout for teachers on a national level began this week in five states.

Mexico’s Deputy Health Minister Hugo Lopez Gatell said the Chinese CanSino vaccine has been chosen for all educational personnel in Mexico, as it only needs a single dose and does not require deep freezing.

On Monday, Campeche became the first state in Mexico to resume face-to-face classes since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.  Children returned to 137 schools in rural areas that have populations not exceeding 500, where connectivity to follow distance courses is complicated.
