US softens Mexico travel advisory

Several announcements this week give cause for optimism for travelers eager to get back to their former adventurous lives.

• On Tuesday, the U.S. State Department lowered its travel advisory rating for Mexico to “Level 3: Reconsider Travel” from the highest “Level 4: Do Not Travel” category. Mexico is one of 61 nations downgraded from the top category.

• Various U.S. news sources this week quoted a White House official who said the Biden administration is forming working groups with Canada, Mexico, the EU and the U.K. to examine how to reopen international travel.
