Figures released Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) show that tourism to Mexico increased by 211 percent in June compared to the same month in 2020.
Mexico received 1,003,684 foreign visitors in June 2020, and more than 3.12 million 12 months later, Inegi said. The figure, however, is still 20 percent fewer than the 3.9 million international visitors who came to Mexico in June 2019.
International air travel rebounded significantly in June, Inegi reported, with more than 1.45 million travelers visiting Mexico, compared with just under 135,000 in June 2020.
