Booster jab program gathers steam

As of December 11, 63 percent of people over 18 years of age who reside in Jalisco had been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, the Jalisco Health Secretariat (SSJ) reported.

The application of booster jabs for adults over age 60 started last week in 29 Jalisco municipalities outside the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area (AMG) and six within it. In a change of plan, the federal government now says all citizens and residents of Mexico should register for their booster jabs on the federal website, mivacuna.salud.gob.mx.

The only requirement is to have a Mexican CURP identity number. Residents of the AMG should also log on to coronavirus.jalisco.gob.mx to make an appointment for a booster shot. Appointments are not given outside of the metropolitan area, and shots are usually applied on a first-come, first-served basis.
