Canadian ambassador issues Covid warning

Graeme Clark, the Canadian ambassador to Mexico, has released a video on social media advising all Canadians thinking of visiting Mexico during the winter season to be aware that “global travel requirements and restrictions to enter Canada can change at any time due to the unpredictable nature of the Covid-19 pandemic.”

pg3bClark urged Canadians to “continue to exercise caution if you do decide to travel outside Canada” and be aware of the Covid activity in the area they are visiting, while maintaining protective measures such as “wearing a mask, washing hands and physical distancing where possible.” He also recommends that visitors obtain “the best travel insurance you can afford prior to travel.”

Clark also urged Canadian visitors to respect the lengths of stay granted by Mexican immigration authorities, and follow the Canadian government’s travel advice at travel.gc.ca/destinations/mexico and on social media, as well as to register at travel.gc.ca/travelling/registration, which allows Canadian authorities “to notify you in case of an emergency abroad or a personal emergency at home.”
