UK hesitates on AstraZeneca for booster shot program

Scientists are working hard to ascertain whether two shots of Covid-19 vaccine will continue to offer protection against severe disease caused by the Omicron SARS-CoV-2 variant that is spreading rapidly throughout the world.

Additionally, they are also trying to discover which jab works most effectively as a booster in the current environment.

Early analysis from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) may concern Mexican health authorities, who are committed to giving everyone over 60 years of age a Covid booster jab with the AstraZeneca vaccine.

According to several UK media outlets, UKHSA research shows AstraZeneca to be weaker at preventing a symptomatic infection from Omicron, although the agency added that its data is very early and based on a small sample size. With a Pfizer booster dose, protection against Omicron symptoms is reckoned to increase to 75 percent, according to the early analysis.
