UK relaxes Mexico vaccine certificate veto

The United Kingdom will finally recognize vaccination certificates issued in Mexico as of February 11.

In contrast to most other nations, the UK has categorized people who received shots in Mexico as “not fully vaccinated,” requiring them to isolate for ten days on arrival. The UK government also announced this week that all testing measures for eligible, fully vaccinated travelers arriving in the country will be removed as of February 11.

Arrivals in the UK who are not recognized as fully vaccinated will only need to take a pre-departure test and a PCR test on or before day two after they arrive in the UK. Under-18s, regardless of their individual vaccination status, will continue to be considered as fully vaccinated.

All vaccines administered in Mexico are approved by the UK government, with the exception of Sputnik and Cansino.

“We have entered a new chapter in our fight against Covid-19 and we’re taking a balanced approach as we learn to live with the virus,” said Health and Social Care Secretary Sajid Javid.
