If selected, the former Mexico City mayor’s main rival will also be female, as the opposition Frente Amplio por Mexico (FAM) alliance field has been narrowed down to two: Beatriz Paredes of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and Xotchil Galvez of the National Action Party (PAN). FAM will announce its candidate on September 3, and Morena on September 6, following voting by party members.
