James B. Tarr

Ten-year Ajijic resident James B. Tarr died December 20 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 74.

Born in Chincoteague, Virginia on July 4, 1938, Tarr served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1971 and retired as a truck driver before his move to Ajijic. His wife Judith predeceased him.

Tarr is survived by four children: James Tarr II and his wife Hope of Utah, Andrew Tarr and his wife Vicki of Nevada, Tammy Ratliff and her husband Clyde of Utah and Tim Bowden of North Carolina. He had eight grandchildren: Brianna, Michael, Niko, Kyle, Clyde, Chelsea, Ashley and Jacob, as well as brother-in-law Bob Tull of Chincoteague Island, Virginia, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service was held at Salyer Funeral Home, Inc. in Chincoteague Island on Friday, January 28. Interment will be held at John W. Taylor Memorial Cemetery in Temperanceville,Virginia.
