Barry Richard Rowell
Barry Richard Rowell, much beloved husband of Karen (Anderson) Rowell, died suddenly at his home in Vista del Lago on December 6 at the age of 77.
Barry was born in Claresholm, Alberta, in 1944 and moved to London, Ontario, as a young boy.
An only child, he was predeceased by his mother, Christina (Tovey) Rowell, and his father, Clayton Arthur Rowell.
With two partners, he owned an insurance adjusting business in London for almost 25 years.
Barry retired in 1987 and moved to Chapala, later residing in Vista del Lago.
Barry was an avid golfer from the age of 10. He travelled and played on many courses in Canada, the United States, the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas, as well as in Mexico.
He was a past president of the Country Club de Chapala, a member for over 31 years and golfed ardently five to six days a week.
Barry loved to travel and together with his wife visited and cruised to a multitude of countries.
Barry was very generous in sharing his wealth of knowledge and love of Mexico with friends and newcomers. He would tell them the rules and laws of their adopted country and always helped, when asked, with any information.
Stepchildren, Lee (Rebekah) Harrison and Lisa Harrison, mourn his passing.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at a later date, by invitation.
Blaine Johnson
Blaine Johnson passed away suddenly December 11, at the age of 63 years, in San Antonio Tlayacapan.
Blaine is survived by his two daughters, Bianca and Lisa-Marie, his one true love Deirdra, his extended family Barry, Brenda, Jeff and Tom, and his community in Ajijic/San Antonio.
Blaine had a personality that was larger than life, say his friends and relatives.
Writes one: “Witty and charming, he was the life of the party. He was a terrific athlete who excelled at hockey and tennis and a generous and thoughtful friend who never forgot a birthday or special occasion, always making sure everyone was well taken care of.
“Blaine was a visionary with something always on the go and a truth seeker, demanding authenticity from his friends and family. His favorite saying was ‘cut the bull——.’ He loved to talk about everything and anything—nothing was off the table.
“We all miss you and feel your absence every day. We will carry on your legacy by living a full life with all its winding roads, and remembering to always be true to ourselves and do the right thing.”
