Sue Farndale

Sue Farndale died peacefully on Thursday, March 10, at age 68, at home in Ajijic, surrounded by her husband Ramon (Keith) and two long-term Canadian friends. She had fast-developing metastatic cancer in the pancreas.

pg11aBorn in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Sue married at age 23 and then lived in Windsor, St Catharines, London and Toronto in Ontario, and in Stephenville, Newfoundland, and enjoyed spending time at a cottage in Lunenburg County.

Starting as a banker, Sue trained with a BA Honours in psychology and sociology at Brock University, followed by a master’s in Social Work at Wilfred Laurier University. She worked as a mental health therapist in hospitals in Toronto, and made close friends in work and community. As a humanitarian and volunteer, she spent years helping cancer patients in Canada.

An outdoor enthusiast with her husband, Sue did canoe camping, explored the world, and sailed in Lake Ontario. Sue was an accomplished cook who loved to entertain friends and colleagues. She was an animal lover, owner of cats and dogs, and lover of nature.

Sue and her husband moved to Mexico seven years ago. She loved living in Ajijic, making friends, and visiting Mexico City, the Yucatan and colonial cities, as well as visiting Pacific beach locations.  She also volunteered in Ajijic’s Festival de Febrero and at a local hospital.

Sue is survived by her husband of 45 years, sister Lynda, nieces and nephews in Nova Scotia and British Columbia, and her two rescue dogs.
