The governor of Nayarit , Antonio Echeverria, is upset that despite directives to stay at home, “irresponsible” tourists from neighboring Jalisco, and Guadalajara in particular, are heading to the state’s coastal resorts and putting the health of locals at risk.
Nayarit’s beaches will be closed over the Easter holidays, and Echeverria has instructed businesses in the municipality of Bahia de Banderas not to provide any services to tourists.
“These are not vacations. Nayarit is closed,” he says.
