Last weekend, heavy rainfall in Puerto Vallarta caused creeks and canals to overflow, inundating nine neighborhoods and resulting in extensive damage to properties.
At least 1,260 homes have been affected, according to Sergio Ramírez, commander of the Jalisco State Civil Protection and Fire Department, who is overseeing the recovery efforts.
An elderly man died after his car was swept away by the rising floodwaters, reports said.

The cleanup and sanitation operations are being coordinated by all three levels of government, while the Jalisco Red Cross and the state and municipal Family Development (DIF) agencies have taken charge of delivering humanitarian aid and essential supplies to those impacted. The Jalisco DIF also reported that by Monday, it had delivered 215 cots, 400 blankets, 260 mats, 800 personal hygiene kits and 531 food supply baskets.
