A new galleon has arrived in Puerto Vallarta to replace the Mari Gallante, which sank during a storm in the bay on October 10.
The “Jolly Roger,” a replica inspired by Columbus’s famous Santa María, was previously based in Cancun, where it offered pirate shows and other entertainment packages.

The ship arrived in Vallarta on December 21 after a three-week voyage via the Panama Canal.
Built in 2009 in Mazatlan, the replica can accommodate up to 250 guests; a New Year’s dinner cruise is already planned, according to event operators.
