US Consulate supporting women

The U.S. Consulate in Guadalajara is to support a program to train 50 women leaders in various municipalities of Jalisco.

The program is financed by the U.S. Secretary of State’s Office of Global Women’s Issues and will be operated by the Centro de Apoyo Para el Movimiento Popular de Occidente, a local nonprofit.

The women selected for the program include new councilors in the municipalities of Atoyac, Toliman, Tuxpan and Zapotitlan de Vadillo. The course will include workshops in public administration, analysis of public policy, preparation of budgets and creating consensus.  A highlight will be a general conference on empowering women featuring speakers from the United States and Mexico.  At the conclusion of the course all the participants will receive a diploma from the ITESO university.
