Bodies dumped

The bodies of four men were discovered this week dumped by the side of the Guadalajara-Chapala highway, near the turn off to El Salto.

Their hands were tied and their mouths gagged and bound with grey tape. All appear to have been strangled to death.  A handwritten note placed beside the bodies accused them of “stealing.” Only one had been identified at press time – a 25-year-old resident of Ixtlahuacan de los Membrillos, near Chapala.

Gas tanker death

A 45-year-old woman has died as a result of injuries and burns sustained in the LP gas tanker explosion in Tonala two weeks ago. Three other victims have been released from hospital, but another remains in critical condition. The driver of the tanker who fled the scene of the accident was apprehended this week but has since been released on bail, reported to be around three million pesos.
