US physicians to share cannabis therapy experiences

The Guadalajara Chamber of Commerce is hosting an all-day seminar on medical marijuana on Saturday, October 19.

pg4aAmong the participants will be Janice and David Knox, the directors of the American Cannabinoid Clinics, whose stated mission is to “deliver precision cannabinoid medicine to every patient looking for a personalized approach to healing.”

American Cannabinoid Clinics have licensed physicians in 19 U.S. states, and their work has been highlighted in major media outlets, including the Washington Post and Huffington Post.

According to the service’s website, the clinics were created to “provide patients with direct access to providers who are not only extensively knowledgeable in cannabis therapeutics and cannabinoid medicine, but compassionate in their approach and commitment to helping patients in their pursuits of achieving optimal wellness through cannabis therapies and other natural, lifestyle modalities.”

Janice Knox, a practicing anesthesiologist for 35 years, founded the American Cannabinoid Clinics from her existing wellness clinic in Portland, Oregon in 2014. David Knox, a former emergency room doctor, soon joined the enterprise.  “It was an eye-opener,” he told the Huffington Post, saying that he saw patients successfully reduce or eliminate their use of opiates for chronic pain after beginning cannabis therapeutics.

pg4bMedical marijuana was legalized in Mexico in 2017 but legislators and health authorities have struggled to come up with a regulatory code for its use. Last month, Mexico’s Supreme Court ruled that the delay was harming the health of potential patients and that regulations must be drawn up within six months.

Meanwhile, Mexico’s Chamber of Deputies (lower house) is still debating the full legalization of marijuana, following the presentation of a bill last November by Interior Minister Olga Sanchez.

The Mexican Senate recently opened a website (cannabis.senado.gob.mx/parlamento-abierto/formulario) where citizens can write their opinions on the legalization of marijuana.

Other confirmed speakers at the October seminar include Dr. Juan Manuel Viveros, Dr. Fernando Marquez and Dr. Raul Porras.

The  Guadalajara Chamber of Commerce is located at Avenida Vallarta 4095, corner of Niño Obrero.  Tickets for the seminar cost 1,000 pesos and can be obtained at http://bit.ly/CAMED19Tickets.
