Public internet access to get big upgrade

Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro this week announced the launch of a new IT project, Red Jalisco, that will bring state-of-the-art, high-speed internet to more than 11,000 locations in the state, including schools, health facilities, government offices and public spaces.

Using state-of-the-art fiber-optic technology, the government aims to upgrade the internet experience for almost 30 percent of users in Jalisco who still rely on public hotspots to connect to the web.  According to research, 5.4 million people in the state have access to the internet, about 65 percent of the entire population.
