As the task of inoculating around 200,000 teachers and administrative personnel continued this week through May 4, the Jalisco government wasted no time in outlining its strategy to get students back in classrooms speedily and safely.
While voluntary in-person classes for high schools and university students will be allowed as of May 17, primary and secondary schoolchildren will have to wait until the next academic cycle in August before they can come face to face with their teachers in a formal class setting once again.
Primary and secondary schools can reopen on May 17 for new registrations, reception of homework, academic assessment and delivery of school supplies and uniforms.
University of Guadalajara (UdG) Rector Ricardo Villanueva Lomelí said in-person classes will resume June 1, with priority given to students whose courses require “practical” and laboratory work.
