Investigators face charges of abuse

The Jalisco Special Prosecutors Office for Human Rights (FEDH) has presented sufficient evidence for charges to be brought against five state investigators accused of physical, psychological and sexual abuse against a woman they arrested in October, 2018, in the municipality of Chapala.

The offended party, who remains incarcerated in a state penitentiary, lodged a complaint with the Jalisco Human Rights Commission, leading to a jurisdictional hearing and a subsequent FEDH investigation of the case. Evidence, including specialized expert reports, confirmed that the woman’s human rights were violated at the time of her capture.
