Young tennis ace on the rise

Emiliano Valencia Contreras might be called lakeside’s Renaissance Kid.

pg4bAt age 12 he has already proved himself to be an accomplished athlete and brilliant multilingual scholar who can communicate in Spanish, English and Italian.

A recent sixth-grade graduate, Emiliano completed his elementary studies with honors in academic excellence and a track record that includes a high standing in the local Mathematics Olympics, and taking first place in an international spelling bee. He also shined as the top goal scorer in the 2016 lakeside youth soccer league.

The youngster’s current passion is tennis, a sport in which he also excels. Since 2020, Emiliano has made the finals of various junior tournaments, competing in both singles and doubles. This year he won titles in his age bracket at National Tennis Federation (FMT) G3 tournaments held in the city of Colima and Zamora, Michoacán, and on the Jalisco Sports Council’s Calidra Circuit.

Emiliano is training under the watchful eye of Carlos Castro at the Raquet Club in San Juan Cosalá. His parents, Fausto Valencia and Madeline Contreras, are keen to find patrons willing to sponsor the boy’s participation in future competitions to bolster his trajectory as a budding tennis star.
