Democrats Abroad Mexico chairman offers vision for 2022

The Lake Chapala Chapter of Democrats Abroad (DA) will present a free Zoom interview on “Democrats Abroad Mexico in 2022,” with William Chapman, Country Chair of Democrats Abroad Mexico on Monday, October 18, 4 p.m.

All DA Mexico members and other inquiring minds are highly encouraged to join this stimulating discussion.

Chapman will give an overview of the biggest challenges facing Democrats Abroad at both global and Mexico levels, and will address how DA Mexico can play a pivotal role in the 2022 midterm elections. He will also explore what is being proposed as a vision for DA global and DA Mexico in the next five years.

In 2017, Chapman helped found the DA Guadalajara chapter, and was elected chair of DA Mexico in 2019. Under his leadership, DA Mexico has experienced significant growth in membership, a vastly increased media profile, and expansion with a new chapter in Yucatan. Chapman is originally from Massachusetts, has a BA in classics from Brown University, an MA in regional studies-East Asia (China) from Harvard University, and has studied several languages. He is currently vice president of Ricardo Barreto Cultural Consultants, and has had careers in international banking, music retailing and arts administration, including Opera Lafayette, where he was general manager. He is married to Ricardo Barreto and they live in Guadalajara.
