Tlaquepaque City Hall has cancelled its hugely popular Day of the Dead festival this year, although some local businesses are offering tours and other activities.
For the “safety of our merchants, employees and visitors, and “the inability to manage social distancing and masking, we have canceled the 2021 festival,” noted a Tlaquepaque City Hall statement.
Started seven years ago, the festival is now the biggest of its kind in the region and sees large crowds descend on the main streets of the crafts center, which teem with dazzling altar displays erected by local residents and vendors. Plenty of entertainment is usually planned in tandem with the street fair.
