Heroic officers save tourist’s life

Jalisco Civil Protection lifeguards managed to save the life of an 82-year-old female tourist who showed no signs of life after collapsing in the sea at the Cuastecomates beach.

According to reports, the woman had waded some 50 meters offshore before suffering a health incident. Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro said two officials, Gerardo Rubio and Rafael Araiza, “reacted immediately, took her out (of the water) and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation” before taking her to the hospital for recovery.

The governor praised the officers on his Twitter account. “With all my heart, my appreciation for saving one more life and for your service to the people of Jalisco, and those who visit us,” wrote Alfaro.
