Naasón Joaquín García, the leader of the Guadalajara-based Luz del Mundo Church, will go to trial in Los Angeles June 6, the judge in the case, Stephen A. Marcus, announced this week.
The spiritual leader of the sect faces 19 charges of sexual abuse of minors and child pornography, and has been held without bail since June 2019.
The trial has been postponed on multiple occasions, due to either procedural delays or Covid-19 pandemic pressures.
