British man shot to death in Colima for ‘being in wrong place at wrong time’

There has been no pause in the wave of violence that has resulted in the deaths of more than 400 people in the state of Colima since the start of the year.

pg7aEleven people were killed during the weekend of May 27 to 29, including a British man who had been working in the city of Colima as a programmer, according to local news reports.

While official and local media sources in Colima provided only sketchy details about the shooting of 37-year-old Ben Corser, local and national newspapers in England supplied further information.

Corser appears to have been killed for “being in the wrong place and the wrong time,” the Daily Mirror reported.

A statement issued by Corser’s family in St. Just, Cornwall, where he grew up, said he was sitting in the back of a car with two Mexican friends outside a supermarket on the main boulevard in Colima when they were attacked by a group of armed men.
