pg2aOn Wednesday, July 17, Mexico’s Ministry of Health (SSA) reported more than 31,116 confirmed Covid-19 infections in the past 24 hours, and 60 deaths related to the disease. According to the SSA, the largest number of cases in the past month have been in the segment of population aged from 18 to 29, followed by the 30 to 39 year-olds and 40 to 49 year-olds.

A statement from the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) said that the peak of the current Covid wave will be reached around July 17.

Vaccines for kids

Covid-19 vaccinations for children residing in Jalisco between five and 11 years old were set to begin Friday, July 8. As of last Monday, appointments could be made on the state government website (vacunacion.jalisco.gob.mx) for shots opened, and all the available slots were taken up within 24 hours. According to the Jalisco Department of Health, this state has received 132,000 shots of the Pfizer vaccine to cover the first stage of inoculations in the youngest segment of the population. More will arrive once these have been administered.
