Two tourists from Colorado were attacked by crocodiles when they went for an evening dip in the ocean at their Puerto Vallarta resort last week.
One of the men was bitten on his legs, arm, abdomen and chest, while the other suffered injuries to his hand, officials from the state Civil Protection Unit said.
Local authorities warn that crocodiles often leave their regular habitats in the rainy season due to the overflow of rivers.
Although crocodiles usually reside in mangrove swamps, the species can also live in salt water. Because of their helpful salt glands, crocodiles can stay for long periods in seawater and survive there even if they do not drink fresh water for a long time.
