Travelers heading out of Guadalajara on the Nogales highway (to Tepic, Puerto Vallarta and the north-west of Mexico) should expect to encounter some new road works as they leave the city suburbs over the next few months.
Work has started on an underpass at the Highway 80 intersection with Venta del Astillero, the pueblito located ten kilometers from the Guadalajara Periferico (beltway), just after the Pinar de la Venta subdivision. Construction of the underpass is regarded as important, since this junction connects with the road to Nextipac and Tesistan, communities that are undergoing rapid growth.
The Venta del Astillero underpass has been “in the works” for several years but put on hold for various reasons. The initial stage of the work, which got underway last week, will not disrupt traffic flow, according to the Ministry of Communications and Transportation (SCT), the federal agency responsible for the project.
