VW Combi comes back with new electric version

Thanks to a Mexican industrial design graduate, the classic VW Combi is being transformed into an electric car.

After submitting his designs, Einar Castillo earned himself a contract with the German car company. He currently works at the VW plant in Wolfsburg, Germany, where he is the lead designer for the new vehicle. A prototype of the electric Combi was first unveiled at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.  Castillo, who graduated from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where he first developed his ideas, says he has tried to maintain the essential look of the vehicle while adapting it to modern technologies.
