Consulate official pegs Jalisco as human trafficking hotspot

The state of Jalisco is ranked as Mexico’s number one hotspot for human trafficking, according to David Morales,  special investigations agent for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) attached to the United States Consulate General in Guadalajara.

Morales was among the consular officials brought out to address the audience at the town hall meeting held Thursday, October  27 at the Lake Chapala Society.

Following introductory remarks by Consul General Eliza F. Al-Laham, Morales took the podium to explain the different modes of human trafficking and common indicators for detecting victims. He revealed that Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta and the Lake Chapala area are identified as places where the highest number of cases have been reported.
